A “Sanford & Son” [Clip] Too Controversial to Air on TV

Between the success of Redd Foxx’s raw & unadulterated party records and his sick emcee skills on center stage, Foxx blew up big in the 60’s.  In 1972, Ossie Davis casted Foxx in his film, Cotton Comes To Harlem. Foxx signed on to NBC’s Sanford and Son soon thereafter.

Below is a clip NBC never aired, Foxx boldness and the controversial subject matter scared the network into deleting the scene. Keep in mind it was in the 70’s (LOL, I guess Foxx should have saved this for the stage).

“We was so poor, if I wasn’t born a boy I wouldn’t have nothing to play with for Christmas.” Redd Foxx
