“I wanted to go overseas because I wanted this to be an album that was really doing things overseas as well, which, with my previous albums, I really didn’t focus on that,” Ross told MTV news of God Forgives, I Don’t at the press conference. “I went overseas, we toured a bit and here we are, fittin’ to make big things happen.”

“Everybody dropping albums and we were touring all year, but we fittin’ to put this music out and we gonna go back on the road. We goin’ make it pop,” Ross added.

On Dec. 4, (2011), Chief Keef’s rap career changed. That afternoon, gunshots were fired from a Blue Pontiac Grand Prix in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago, just South of Hyde Park, and when police arrived at the scene, a suspect allegedly pointed a gun at them. The officers fired a shot back. Two young men, including Chief Keef, were apprehended; a third escaped. Rumors swirled that Keef had been killed in a shootout with police; in fact, he’d been arrested and charged with aggravated UUW, or unlawful use of a weapon. He was released sometime around New Year’s Day to live at his grandmother’s apartment for 30 days under house arrest, followed by another 30 days of home confinement.

When his house arrest ended, on Jan. 2, WorldStarHipHop—a website that hosts hip-hop-related videos for an estimated two million unique viewers per day—posted a video of a young child in a hysterical fit of excitement. Keef had just been released, and the young boy was celebrating. He bounded around the room, rapping along to “Aimed At You,” one of Chief Keef’s biggest songs. The earliest comments from the site’s largely hip-hop-oriented readership were marked by confusion: “Chief who?” “Who the fuck is cheif Keef?” Keef was an entirely unknown outside of certain corners of Chicago’s South Side, but he had been thrust suddenly onto the national stage. – gawker

The industry is all about formulas, and Rihanna, in a sense, is the black ‘Pat Benatar’, which seems to be working for her. Even before Jay Z knew what to do with her, Rihanna had a large young audience gravitating towards her after the release of her first hit “Pon De Replay”. I continue to write about her because I like her edginess and versatility (R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Rock, Dance, Electronica). I think the chick has talent and can really blow, unlike her counterparts who truly are just marketing gimmicks, (Britney Spears -pop and Miley Cyrus – country). Rihanna has won five American Music Awards, eighteen Billboard Music Awards, two BRIT Awards and six Grammy Awards…Was is all just hype? The question still remains, does Rihanna possess real talent or not? Here was her latest video…you be the judge.

Who was funnier at the White House Correspondents Dinner, comedian Jimmy Kimmel or President Barack Obama?

The general consensus in the ballroom full of journalists, media executives, Washington big wigs and Hollywood stars was that they both delivered some pretty great zingers.  Here are some of the best one-liners of the night:

-    Kimmel: “If you told me when I was a kid I would be standing on a dais with President Barack Obama, I would have said, ‘The president’s name is Barack Obama?’

-    Obama: “Four years ago, I was locked in a brutal primary battle with Hillary Clinton. Four years later she won’t stop drunk-texting me from Cartegana.”

-    Kimmel to Obama:  “Remember when the country rallied around you in hope for a better tomorrow? That was a good one.”

April 20th is not anything much out of the ordinary for most people — far less significant than say, February 14th (Valentine’s Day), January 1st (New Year’s Day) or December 25th (Christmas). Yet for some, it is just as memorable.
This April 20th and its surrounding dates will see many activities in celebration of 4/20. From Conventions such as HempCon and NORML to concerts by Snoop Dogg and Cypress Hill, and a comic book release titled “MARIJUANAMAN” by a reggae musician, let the festivities begin!

4/20 is a great date for concerts, akin to alcohol at a baseball game. Some fans that attend 4/20-branded events will, in their own way, take full advantage of what it has to offer. Music promoters are also taking advantage of 4/20 by using the date as a marketing tool. At the least they are assured that people will show up outside the venue hungry… for music.

4/20 is a fitting backdrop for the enjoyment of some good music — music that carries the vibe of what 4/20 represents. Hmm, let’s see, which kind of music? Oh! I got it. Reggae would be a good choice, for sure.

No doubt , 4/20 is a date that will bring out like-minded people to any event that uses its name — and maybe some who are not so like-minded. So please enjoy responsibly.
For me, 4/20 means more than just a day to relish in the delights of natures oral herbal bliss. It is a day of an idea, of a philosophy that has been planted but is yet to be reaped. A solution for the fix.

A day when the rights of a simple plant life form to exist for the benefit of mankind without persecution and discrimination — honored and celebrated, even.

What? You thought 4/20 was about you and your rights?

I guess it is, too, but mostly it’s about the rights of this peaceful plant. At least that’s the 4/20 way of looking at it.

Every 4/20, the world should come to know more and appreciate more the potential of this plant. It is a date of reminder: “I am here for your benefit.”

What better way to do that, than through music? Herb and music.

Everyone and everything in this world has rights. Why not the plants and trees that allow us to survive on this planet?  Human rights, animal rights — and now plant rights.  Someone once said, “You can’t have a green revolution without the greenest plant on the earth.”

In spite of anybody who wants to view this as too ‘ghastly’ for their taste, I believe this was a perfect way for Snoop and Coachella to honor the iconic rapper. Coming from a die-hard PAC fan, I am overjoyed that this magical tribute was presented to us with such flawlessness. I just want to run up on stage and hug Pac! I will remember this performance for a lifetime!

Thanks to the magic of technology, the most talked-about performance at this year’s Coachella festival came from a man who died more than 15 years ago. Last night (April 15), as Snoop Dogg closed out the three-day Southern California event, slain hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur appeared in hologram form, busting a solo “Hail Mary” and teaming with Snoop on “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.” (the boombox)
