KRS-One was the recipient of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award (2008) for all his work and effort towards the Stop the Violence Movement as well as the overall pioneering of Hip Hop music and culture.
Just goes to show real talent doesn’t fade with age. This motherf*cker still rappin’ his ass off…style and content still his. You wont hear that Gucci mane nonsense about rims and bling. KRS still makes a point. RickSmiff-youtube
The above quote expresses my sentinments exactly. Hip Hop at ALL times should remain relevant and be a true testiment of the people it represents. What we’re hearing now on the airwaves only represents the rich who got rich from rapping about being rich. But true ‘Richness’ in Hop Hop is the “culture” and the history behind that culture that birthed this music. That expression “never forget where you came from” is why rappers like KRS ONE will ALWAYS be the ONE true King of Hip Hop.
