ASTRO – “Didnt Know [Starvin Like Marvin For A Cool J Song]” #ThrowbackThursday via @lisafordblog
In "Didn't Know", ASTRO reminisces about his life before his fame and explains his childhood with a ridiculously good flow. It's a genuine great rap song, one that is a pure representation of East Coast hip hop, a story being told with no cursing. "Didn't Know" has that Brooklyn sound I've missed, this is what Jay Z use to be, a young dude spitting some real sh*t. You might remember Astro from the XFactor about 3 years back. He's come a long way and has…

KENDRICK LAMAR Performs “Untitled” On The Colbert Report – New Music!! (VIDEO) via @lisafordblog
Let's all pray that KENDRICK LAMAR drops his album on Christmas without warning. That would be crazy! Artists like Kdot is why I consider Hip Hop to be the "master genre" of all genres. The pure poetry of it all. Words are so important, so incredibly amazing in rap, other genres just can't compare. Kendrick will be a legend up there with Biggie, Nas, Em, 2pac, Rakim, and the rest. Could even outshine them all in due time. His song, "Untitled" is amazing.

CONGRESS Gives In To Medical Marijuana & Ends Federal Ban
"The war on medical marijuana is over," said Bill Piper, a lobbyist with the Drug Policy Alliance to the Los Angeles Times. According to TheAtlantic.com, "The $1 trillion spending bill that passed last week included a provision that blocks the Justice Department from spending any money to enforce a federal ban on growing or selling marijuana in the 32 states that have moved to legalize it for medical use. It marks a huge shift for Congress, which for years had sided with federal prosecutors in…

CAMILLE COSBY Breaks Silence & Defends BILL COSBY Over Rape Allegations! Read Her Statement! via @lisafordblog
Whether BILL COSBY raped all of those women or not, one thing appears true...that he cheated on CAMILLE COSBY left and right. I never understood why people get married knowing that they can't keep their pants zipped up. Anyways, that's my two cents. Read Camille's statement within this blog post, originally posted by CBS news.

D’ANGELO’s New Album After 15 years – “Black Messiah” LISTEN: via @lisafordblog
D'Angelo, an old-school R&B king, is back after nearly 15 years. “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can easily be misunderstood. For me, the title is about all of us. It’s about the world. It’s about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah. It’s about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and in every place where a community had enough and decides to…

DAMIAN MARLEY – “Is It Worth It (Gun Man World)” – Music Video via @lisafordblog
DAMIAN MARLEY graces us with visuals for his politically-charged single, "Is It Worth It (Gun Man World)", an incredible song off of the upcoming "Ghetto Youths International" compilation which drops December 23rd. The video is directed by Nabil Elderkin & Francesco Carrozzini and stars Saai Taghmaoui (‘American Hustle’), who 'plays a contract killer who tries to balance his violent lifestyle with being a family man'. It's refreshing to see so much time and thought put into a good video, and the track is obviously a…

JHENE AIKO – “Wading” (Music Video) via @lisafordblog
The video doesn't match the song and a lot of people don't understand where the visual's for "Wading" fit in with JHENE AIKO's overall image and artistry. But she is one to think outside the box and I guess she wanted to change it up a little.

PRO ERA – “Sol Luna” ft. Joey Bada$$, Dyemond Lewis & A La $ole (AUDIO) @LISAFORDBLOG’s IPod Pick
If PRO ERA's "Sol Luna" isn't already on your IPod, and you're a so-called Hip Hop purist, then I don't know what to say. It was released damn near a year ago on their "Secc$ Tap.e pt.2" mixtape and it represents 80's & 90's era Hip Hop. This shit is straight fire fam, authentic and smooth. Joey Bada$$ laces the track and the whole sound reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest. Props to the producer. Pro Era is bringing New York back for real!

J COLE’s Amazing NPR Interview – “Ain’t Enough Of Us Trying” (Audio) via @lisafordblog
J COLE tweeted a couple of hours ago... "2 important things for you to watch and listen to today. Angie interview http://dreamville.com/angie/ NPR interview http://dreamville.com/npr/". So that's exactly what I did. This blog post includes the audio and printed interview between J COLE and "Microphone Check" hosts Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelley on NPR, the day after his third and much-anticipated album, "2014 Forest Hills Drive", was released. It's a long interview, but the best interview Cole has ever did. A lot of folks…

STALLEY – “Free” (Audio) @LisaFordBlog’s IPod Pick!
WHAT UP DOE? I've missed you all. I've basically been on a month-long vacation working on my novel, traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, and uploading this blog to a bigger server to handle the influx of traffic. In deciding who would be the first artist to post, I chose STALLEY's "Free". The drive from Miami to Atlanta was about 12 hours, and "Free" was one of those jams on constant rewind. This post includes the audio only because Stalley has yet to do a video for…
