“Skrillex has joined with Rick Ross for a new song from the soundtrack to the superhero movie Suicide Squad. “Purple Lamborghini” debuted today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. Skrillex and Rozay also spoke with Lowe, telling him that Jared Leto will appear as the Joker in the song’s upcoming music video. Rozay added that he plans to release a new album before the end of 2016. ” (Pitchfork)
If you haven’t copped DENZEL CURRY’s “Nostalgic 64” album already, the you’re missing out. One of my favorite cuts off the album is “Zone 3”, a record about police brutality. Not only do I love the concept of this song and the fact that Curry reps my city – Miami, but I find it fitting to post this cut now because of all of the madness involving the recent murders of unarmed black men by over zealous police in this country.
Rick Ross’ album “Hood Billionaire” is a great concept that demonstrates you can achieve anything no matter what walk of life you come from. Speaking as a music blogger stationed in Miami, Ross’ sound truly represents our flavor down here as everyday we have to hustle hard to stay afloat in a wild wild west-like city. “Wuzzup” is off of the the ‘Hood Billionaire’ album blowing hard with that gritty beat The Bawse is known for. The music video is directed by Latch Lab featuring vintage black and white visuals.
WHAT UP DOE? I’ve missed you all. I’ve basically been on a month-long vacation working on my novel, traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, and uploading this blog to a bigger server to handle the influx of traffic.
In deciding who would be the first artist to post, I chose STALLEY’s “Free”. The drive from Miami to Atlanta was about 12 hours, and “Free” was one of those jams on constant rewind. This post includes the audio only because Stalley has yet to do a video for this song. I appreciate him as a new generation artist who isn’t putting out fluff style rap. If you haven’t copped it already, go and pick up his album – “OhIO”.
One thing we can all say about the Rick Ross is that he’s always been consistent with good music. His soon-to-be-released, “Hood Billionaire” album will probably be no different. Ross gives us a little taste of what’s to come with his new single release, “Movin Bass” featuring another collab with Jay Z on a Timbaland beat. “Hood Billionaire” is set to be released November 24th.
“New Flame” features a powerful duet with R&B giants CHRIS BROWN & USHER, laced with a flow from RICKY ROZAY. This song, alongside mega hit, “Loyal”, is featured on Brown’s new album, X, which will be released on Sept.15. A source told Hollywood Life that Brown wanted X to be perfect before the world hears it…
“The people behind him who are working on this are straight professionals who have been doing this before Chris was even born,” the source said. “They know what they’re doing and Chris is letting them do their jobs. That’s what they get paid to do.”
Back in 1993, the classic hip hop group, SOULS OF MISCHIEF, released one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time… “93′ TIL INFINITY” (the track Rick Ross used for his new release, ‘Thug Cry’). Their new hit, “There Is Only Now”, is real and good hip hop and we need more of this! All the old school vets should return just like SOULS OF MISCHIEF to take back the hip hop game and bring it back to its roots! “There Is Only Now” is also the title of their upcoming album. THEY’RE BACK!
