The Tupac biopic, "All Eyez On Me", directed by Benny Boom, dropped today to commensurate the legacy the iconic rapper. The filma also served as birthday gift to his fans as Pac's birthday is today, June 16th (Pac would have been 46 years old). I'm a die-hard fan and I'm personally nervous about watching the film because I hold a very nostalgic view of Pac that I don't want ruined (even though I don't think that's possible). In previous blog posts, I did publish the trailer video, so I won't go that route today. Instead I'm posting something light-hearted, a little insight on Pac's humorous personality, that I thought you would enjoy. Rest in Paradise Pac.
Congratulations to TUPAC SHAKUR for being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. According to Rolling Stone magazine, artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single. 2017 is the first year legends, Pearl Jam and Tupac Shakur were eligible. They are also the first artists to join the institution who started their careers in the Nineties.
YOUTUBE: Shia LaBeouf is outrapping some full time rappers!! Who knew? This major Hollywood actor came by Sway in the Morning just to casually kill our 5 Fingers of Death.
AmbrosiaForHeads: The nominees for the 2017 class of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced, and Tupac Shakur leads a list of first time nominees that also includes Pearl Jam, Journey, Jane’s Addiction, Depeche Mode, and more. If accepted, Shakur would be the sixth Hip-Hop artist admitted to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, joining Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and N.W.A.
20 years ago we lost a special soul, Rapper, Actor, Poet, Revolutionary, ICON, TUPAC SHAKUR. 2Pac is the reason why I even have this blog as his influence on me has given me courage to follow my dreams. Writer Kevin Powell says Tupac is more than a rapper. "When we think about Tupac Shakur ... not just in hip-hop but popular culture, in America and globally, you have to think about Elvis Presley, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon, Bob Marley," Powell says. "It's that significant. He is one of the most important figures that we've seen in the last 25 years or so." Powell interviewed Tupac a number of times for Vibe magazine, including while the rapper was serving time in jail for a sexual abuse conviction. When I was very young, I had the opportunity to interview PAC after he performed at a nightclub in Nashville, Tennessee. My biggest takeaway from the interview was Tupac didn't see himself as this huge influential figure like the rest of us did. He felt that his life was controlled by the media and the entertainment business. But what he left behind was a body of work that has touched generations of people.
Rolling Stone: The upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me traces the cold reality of the fallen hip-hop forebear, and his rise from poverty to the highest echelon of fame. The film will be released on November 11th, just a couple months after the 20-year anniversary of the icon's assassination on the corner of East Flamingo and Koval in Las Vegas.
My mother says every time she checks out my blog she sees TUPAC! Yes Ma'am! And today's post is dedicated to this rap legend because Pac would have turned 44 today if he wasn't gunned down in Las Vegas over 18 years ago. Pac will always be a dominant feature on this blogspot because in my opinion, he is the #1 Pioneer of Hip Hop. Couple that with the fact that I'm still in mourning over his death. I will never get over 2pac because I'm too in love with his music. Happy Birthday Machiavelli !
As a Hip Hop head, I know you already have BIGGIE's 'Party & Bullshit' in your music catalog. In my opinion, this is Biggie's best song. It epitomizes delivery, BIG's deadly flow, and flawless timing. Believe it or not, this was his first track ever which was released as the fourth promotional single for the soundtrack to the 1993 film 'Who's the Man?'. The irony? ... The best way to describe most of today's music is this song's title. ;-) R.I.P B.I.G. He would have turned 43 today.
This ain't so bad, but damn I miss the style of Documentary and Doctor's Advocate. I want the Game from The Documentary back...his style back then was way better. Check out the video and tell me what you think. FreeOnSmash writes, "Since its premiere last month from producer DJ Skee, Los Angeles rapper The Game has officially dated his long-awaited sequel for The Documentary to drop this summer. Serving as the first single for the project, Chuck Taylor called up Detroit rapper DeJ Loaf to channel their love for Makaveli’s critically-acclaimed classic All Eyez On Me, with “Ambitionz of a Rida.” Also using influences from his “Me and My Girlfriend” classic, the Bompton rapper invites DeJ out to the West for the heist of her lifetime, but whether or not she’s ready to prove she can be his ’15 Bonnie remains to be seen. After you watch the visual above, look for The Documentary 2 arriving this June 30th."
First I have to mention that Grand Puba's "2000" should go down in the rap history books as a sheer classic album. I stand by that statement and I don't care what all the hip hop heads say lol. I've been debating Puba's status as a 'legend' for years in social media platforms, so to present this video with him, the greatest of all time, PAC, and Treach, comes with great honor. AmbrosiaForHeads writes, "Back in 1992, before the East Coast/West Coast beef was in full effect, Treach, Tupac and Grand Puba found themselves together backstage and decided to have an impromptu cipher. The moment was caught on tape and has made the rounds over the years, but it’s still amazing to see the three legendary MCs together rhyming just for the sport of it. Each MC flows with aggression, a cappella. Check it out."
