I had the pleasure and the honor of meeting TEENA MARIE in the flesh at Miami Garden's annual JAZZ IN THE GARDENS concert in March 2010 at the SUNLIFE STADIUM! Teena was beautiful, humbled, down-to-Earth, and her voice sounded exactly the way it did when she signed to Motown Records in 1979.

TEENA MARIE is the epidome of SOUL and literally put the FIRE & DESIRE into R&B music during her tenure as QUEEN of Funk & Soul. Didn't Teena and Rick James make history? And everyone lost their minds when Teena showcased her Rap skills in SQUARE BIZ!!

The main thing I will take away from growing up on Teena Marie's music is some people are just BORN WITH SOUL AND BORN TO SING no matter their race or origin. While she was here on Earth, she influenced a generation of Motowners and their offspring.
