This is the first time I ever saw Whitney singing in her choir as a young girl. It still hasn’t hit me, even now, that Whitney is gone. I remember over-hearing my mom and friends talk about how Whitney couldn’t dance and was a little awkward on in her videos when her first album was released…but boy COULD SHE SANG!! I have yet to hear a voice like Whitney Houston’s. Whitney Houston’s days as a choir girl at her old church (footage above), New Hope Baptist Church, were remembered by her hometown neighbors Monday (NBC). Her funeral will be held Friday at an 18,000-seat arena in Newark, N.J., the city where the star was born.
