MOTHERJONES: "In the eyes of filmmaker Raoul Peck, the voice of author James Baldwin has been largely forgotten in the 30 years since his death. Yet Baldwin's words remain uniquely relevant today. I Am Not Your Negro, Peck's Oscar-nominated documentary, which hits selected theaters this week, recounts Baldwin's incisive examination of the systemic racism that underpins the black American experience. The film—based on letters, published work, and notes from Remember This House, Baldwin's unpublished manuscript about his contemporaries Medger Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther…

STAR WARS’ PRINCESS LEIA – Dead Today at 60 – RIP CARRIE FISHER x (Vintage Video) via @lisafordblog
"Theres no room for demons when you're self possessed" - @carrieffisher RIP Princess... CARRIE FISHER. I remember watching her as PRINCESS LEIA in the STAR WARS films and telling myself that Fisher was a symbol of strength and girl power. This woman spoke openly about mental illness and helped so many people. Carrie Fisher wasn't just Princess Leia, she was a phenomenal human being.

WATCH KANYE WEST Meet With Donald Trump at Trump Towers (VIDEOS) via @lisafordblog
I've collected a few videos from Twitter for this blog post. E! News reports that Kanye met with Trump “to discuss a potential role for the rapper,” according to an unnamed source. They reportedly discussed West “becoming an ‘ambassador of sorts.’” E! News reports the source as saying “Trump is interested in getting West involved in an ‘entrepreneurial leadership role.’” E!’s source contradicts TMZ, saying that it was Trump’s camp who requested the meeting, not Kanye’s.
